All-CUSA Linebacker Martin Patterson led the Horned Frogs in tackles in 2003 & 2004
50 | LB Martin Patterson (2001-2004)
Martin Patterson arrived in Fort Worth in the Class of 2001 out of DeSoto as an unranked zero-star prospect with the Horned Frogs as his only reported offer, he would go on to become one of the most prolific tacklers of the early Gary Patterson era. The 6-foot-2 228-pound linebacker saw action in four games in his true freshman season and would have a first breakout as a sophomore as the Frogs won the Conference-USA Title and would go on to defeat Colorado State in the Liberty Bowl where Patterson had a career-best game to that point, making 11 tackles with 2.5 for loss. His role and production would take another major leap for his final two seasons at TCU as he’d hit triple digit tackles in both 2003 & 2004, including a 20 tackle game vs USF as a senior. Patterson led the Horned Frogs in tackles both seasons and earning Second Team All-Conference USA honors in 2004.
