Linebacker Cooper McDonald returns home to DFW following stints at Washington & San Diego State
44 | LB Cooper McDonald
With new Defensive Coordinator Andy Avalos joining the Horned Frogs for 2024, the TCU defense was looking for an influx of depth and talent at the linebacker position, bringing in key targets from the portal, including Top 25 transfer LB San Diego State Cooper McDonald. The Justin Northwest grad spent two years with the Washington Huskies out of high school, playing in all 16 games of the 2020-21 seasons making 28 tackles including 5.5 for loss with 1.5 sack. McDonald then joined the Aztecs for another two seasons, playing all 24 games with 18 starts for the Mountain West squad. While at San Diego State, McDonald made 84 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and 5 pass break-ups. McDonald will compete for a top spot on the interior linebacker depth chart with fellow transfer addition Kaleb Elarms-Orr and veteran Frogs like Johnny Hodges and Shad Banks.
