TCU’s all-time best statistical Punter, Ethan Perry earned Freshman All-American in 2012
37 | P Ethan Perry (2012-15)
While perhaps not the most glamorous of positions on the football team and you never happy for the offense to fail requiring him to see the field, the Punter is a key component of any successful squad and Ethan Perry was one of the best to ever do it for the Horned Frogs.
Ranked as a top-ten punter/kicker prospect in the nation and the No. 1 in Texas coming out of Spring Branch in the Class of 2012. Perry was trusted to take over the starting punter role immediately in his freshman season, earning Honorable Mention All-Big 12 and a Freshman All-American averaging 44.5 yards per punt on 63 punts with a career-best 20 boots over 50 yards. Perry’s 2013 may have been his most impressive as the Horned Frogs offense struggled mightily, forcing him into 80 attempts on the season, with only four rolling into the endzone for a touchback with 29 kicks downed inside the 20. With the TCU Offense taking a monumental leap forward in 2014-15, Perry was not called upon as often, totaling 130 punts, averaging 39.1 yards with only nine total touchbacks (7%) with 58 downed inside the 20 (45%). The 2014 punt coverage team set an all-time NCAA record with negative-19 total return yards allowed on the season.
