34 | RB Ed Wesley (2008-2011)
Arriving at TCU as a two-star out of Irving MacArthur, ranked outside the top 1,600 prospects in the Class of 2008, running back Ed Wesley would become the Horned Frogs starting running back and leading rusher in 2010.
After redshirting his first season on campus, Wesley was a key contributor of the four-headed ground attack of 2009, along with Joseph Turner, Matthew Tucker, and QB Andy Dalton each would rush for over 600 yards on the season. Wesley would earn Honorable Mention All-MWC for TCU’s undefeated regular season, conference championship, and program-first BCS bid. Wesley’s standout performance of the season came in its biggest game, with ESPN’s College GameDay on the Fort Worth campus and the Horned Frogs’ revenge showdown with the Utah Utes, as Wesley rushed for 137 yards (11.4 yards per carry) and a touchdown in the blowout TCU victory.
Taking over a the primary starter in the backfield in 2010, Wesley earned First Team All-Mountain West while becoming TCU’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2003. Held to just 13 rushing yards in the Rose Bowl, Wesley delivered the Frogs’ second-longest reception of the game, going for 33 yards to set up a third quarter touchdown that would be the game-winning points.
Injury shortened his 2011 season, but Wesley would still earn Honorable Mention All-MWC honors, adding another 726 yards and six touchdowns to his career tally and helping the Horned Frogs win a third consecutive conference title.
