Trevone Boykin is TCU’s all-time leading passer, guiding the Frogs to consecutive Top Ten finishes in 2014-2015
2 | QB Trevone Boykin (2011-2015)
The TCU record holder for career passing yards and touchdowns, Trevone Boykin brought the Horned Frogs to new heights in the Big 12 with two of the most prolific passing seasons in program history in 2014 & 2015.
After redshirting his first season on campus, the three-star athlete from Mesquite served as backup quarterback and saw playing time at wide receiver and running back in 2012 & 2013. Boykin served as the starting QB for TCU’s first Big 12 conference game vs. Iowa State in 2012. In 2013 he continued his efforts as a do-everything Swiss Army Knife athlete, as the only player in program history to record a 100+ yards rushing game (at TTU), a 100+ yards receiving game (vs. WVU), and a 200+ yards passing game (vs. SMU).
In 2014, TCU made a change to its offense, bringing in Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie with a fresh fast-paced approach. Boykin earned the starting role and he took the Horned Frogs on a rocket ship of success over the next two seasons. Boykin would be named an All-American and win the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose for his 2014 performance, finishing 4th in Heisman voting as the Frogs would finish 12-1 with a Peach Bowl victory and a final AP ranking at no. 3.
TCU opened the 2015 season with sky high expectations and again Boykin delivered an All-American campaign, rushing for 50+ yards in seven games and passing for 430+ yards in four games. TCU would close the season at 11-2 and ranked 7th in the AP Poll.
Boykin finished his career as one of the most accomplished QBs in TCU history, and still holds program records for career passing yards (10,728) and passing touchdowns (86), while also ranking 8th all-time for rushing touchdowns (27).
