Jared Wiley set TCU & Big 12 tight end records in 2023, including his 178-yard, two touchdown performance vs. Baylor
19 | TE Jared Wiley (2022-2023)
One of the most impactful transfers to ever join the Horned Frogs, tight end Jared Wiley came to Fort Worth after three seasons with the Texas Longhorns along with the new TCU coaching staff ahead of the 2022 season. He would have a major impact on the offense in 2022, including the game-tying touchdown in the final minutes vs. No. 8 Oklahoma State, a game the Frogs would go on to win in 2OT, followed up the next week with a season-best 5-receptions, 74-yard, and a TD to take down No. 17 Kansas State. An Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2022, Wiley finished the season with 24 receptions, 245 yards, and 4 touchdowns helping the Horned Frogs reach the College Football Playoffs and to the National Championship.
While the Frogs did not have as successful a campaign in 2023, Wiley was the brightest spot on the squad, leading the nation in touchdown catches by tight ends and ranking in the top five nationally for total receptions at the position with a TCU-best 47 catches. His performance in TCU’s dominant win over the Baylor Bears is perhaps the best game by a TCU tight end ever, setting a program and Big 12 Conference record with 178 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
The Temple, TX native was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 4th Round of the 2024 NFL Draft where he will serve as backup to All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce. In his first preseason game on Saturday, Wiley secured two receptions for five yards in the Chiefs win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
