Called upon when an injury took starter Chandler Morris down midway through the 2023 season, quarterback Josh Hoover hit the scene with a massive splash in his first career start for the Horned Frogs. The redshirt freshman from Heath, TX delivered a touchdown strike to JP Richardson on his first drive of the game and proceeded to complete an all-time debut with 439 passing yards and four touchdowns in a dominant 44-11 win over the BYU Cougars. Hoover remained the starter for the rest of the season, finishing the campaign with 299 completions for 2,208 and 15 touchdowns, adding two scores on the ground. Heading into the 2024 season, Hoover is the presumptive QB1 for the Horned Frogs, set to lead the offense when TCU hits the field at Stanford next Friday.
