“THE MAGIC CONTINUES FOR TCU” in the 4th quarter of the Fiesta Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal, TCU held a three-point lead facing third and long when junior wide receiver Quentin Johnston delivered what is considered by many TCU fans to be a top-two Horned Frogs play all-time. Grabbing the Max Duggan pass behind the line of scrimmage, QJ put a move on the hapless Michigan defensive back and sprinted to the house for 76 yards and a game-breaking score. Johnston would finish the game as Offensive MVP with six receptions for 163 yards and that magical touchdown to lead the Horned Frogs into the National Championship Game.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound wideout from Temple, TX delivered special moments throughout his three years in Fort Worth. QJ had a solid outing in the 2020 COVID season as a true freshman, including a pair of 100+-yard games to close the campaign in wins over Oklahoma State and Louisiana Tech. His breakout on the national stage came as a sophomore vs. No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners in Norman as Johnston feasted on the OU secondary for a 7-185-3 stat line
In TCU’s run throughout 2022, Johnston repeatedly displayed his elite skill set as one of the top receivers in the country. He put the team on his back in Lawrence with 14 catches for 206 yards and an incredible catch in the back of the endzone in the final minutes to deliver the victory over No. 19 Kansas Jayhawks with College GameDay on site.
