A number long banned on the field in college football, the zero has been worn the past to seasons by Shad Banks Jr. TCU’s tackle for loss leader in 2023, edge linebacker Banks enters his fourth season with the Horned Frogs, looking to break out even further in 2024 under new defensive coordinator Andy Avalos. Primarily a special teams contributor in his freshman season, Banks made the play of the year in 2021 with the game-sealing interception to down No. 14 Baylor in TCU’s first game without Gary Patterson. So far in his TCU career, Banks has 113 total tackles, 13.5 for loss with two sacks and that iconic interception.
