The former Houston transfer missed most of the 2024 campaign with an injury.
TCU baseball has now seen four pitchers selected in the 2024 MLB Draft. The most recent addition came after the Arizona Diamondbacks claimed right-hander Kyle Ayers with the 404th overall selection in the 13th round on Tuesday afternoon. Ayers started his collegiate career at Los Angeles Community College before transferring to Houston for one season and then making his way to TCU. Ayers made 10 relief appearances and fired 13.2 innings for the Horned Frogs, posting a 6.59 ERA with 17 strikeouts and eight walks.

Ayers was sidelined for most of the 2024 season after suffering an injury in late March. The Los Angeles native was a 2023 All-Silver Glove Series Team member and posted a 4-1 record with a 5.74 ERA over 47 innings during his sophomore season at Houston. Ayers totaled 53 strikeouts and held opponents to a .243 average in his lone season as a Cougar. Ayers joins Caedmon Parker (Milwaukee Brewers), Zachary Cawyer (Kansas City Royals) and Payton Tolle (Boston Red Sox) as the Horned Frogs selected in the 2024 MLB Draft so far.
