The Horned Frogs finish 1-2 over three games at Globe Life Field.
TCU baseball returned to the Lone Star State for the 2025 Amegy College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington after its season-opening sweep against San Diego. The Horned Frogs took on a trio of Power 4 opponents, defeating Michigan on Friday before falling just short against Arkansas on Saturday. TCU concluded its weekend with a lopsided loss against Kansas State on Sunday. The Horned Frogs (5-2, 0-0 Big 12) will be back at Lupton Stadium on Tuesday for a nonconference game against Tarleton State.
Friday: TCU 10: Michigan 4
Caedmon Parker took the mound to start Friday’s weekend opener, earning his first win of the season after throwing six innings and striking out three batters while holding Michigan to three earned runs. Braeden Sloan continued his strong start to the season out of the bullpen, firing three frames with four strikeouts and one earned run allowed to record his first save this year. TCU trailed early in the game, as a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning and an RBI single in the bottom of the third put the Wolverines ahead 3-1.

The Horned Frogs came alive in the top of the sixth inning, however, rallying for four runs to take the lead, which TCU held for the remainder of the game. Sam Myers sparked the rally with a two-run single and Sawyer Strosnider put the Horned Frogs ahead 5-3 with a two-run single of his own. Chase Brunson’s RBI triple in the top of the seventh inning provided an insurance run for the Horned Frogs, who added four runs in the top of the ninth inning.

Isaac Cadena and freshman Nolan Traeger each went yard in the top of the ninth inning, launching a pair of two-run bombs to seal TCU’s victory. The Horned Frogs showed great plate discipline against the Wolverines, drawing 11 walks and striking out just five times.
Saturday: Arkansas 2, TCU 1
Tommy LaPour took the ball for the Horned Frogs in a pitcher’s dual against the Razorbacks on Saturday. The Wichita State transfer LaPour hurled six strong innings with five strikeouts while limiting Arkansas to just two earned runs on two hits. Gianluca Shinn, Louis Rodriguez and Mason Bixby combined to throw three scoreless frames in relief to keep TCU in the mix. Offensively, the Horned Frogs struggles against Arkansas’s Zach Root, who struck out 10 TCU batters and allowed only two hits and one earned run over five innings of work.

A fielding error enabled TCU to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Arkansas took control in the top of the seventh inning, where pinch hitter Kuhio Aloy stepped up to the plate and slapped a two-run double to give the Razorbacks their first lead of the game.
Sunday: Kansas State 10, TCU 2
The Horned Frogs faltered in their series finale on Sunday, conceding four runs in the top of the fifth inning and five runs in the top of the seventh inning against the Wildcats. Trever Baumler started on the bump for the Horned Frogs, throwing four and one-third innings while striking out three batters and allowing three earned runs. Baumler’s promising outing gave way to a rough bullpen outing for TCU, as California transfer Trey Neumann allowed two runs, Cohen Feser allowed three runs and Gianluca Shinn also conceded two runs.

The Horned Frogs tallied one run on a sacrifice fly from Chase Brunson in the bottom of the sixth inning and another run on a passed ball in the bottom of the eighth inning. Isaac Cadena went 2-for-4 to lead the TCU offense, which drew only two walks while striking out 10 times in the game.
