Sophomores Sam Myers and Chase Brunson will look to follow up promising freshman campaigns.
We conclude our 2025 TCU baseball season preview series with the fourth and final article, this time examining the outfielders and utility players who will lace their cleats up for the Horned Frogs this spring. The team suffered a notable loss over the offseason, with stud outfielder Logan Maxwell entering the transfer portal before signing with Arkansas. Without Maxwell, TCU will need its returning outfielders to emerge in 2025. One of those players is sophomore Sam Myers, who broke out last season with a stellar freshman campaign. Myers slashed .353/.405/.491 with 61 hits over 42 starts and was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention.
Huge fan of TCU Freshman Sam Myers. Short, direct swing with some hand speed and advanced feel for the barrel. 2-run double here gives TCU a 5-4 lead. pic.twitter.com/QX8em20qwi

Another sophomore who showed significant promise last season is Chase Brunson, who made the All-Big 12 Freshman Team after slashing .291/.390/.426 with 43 hits and 25 RBIs over 42 starts in 2024. Both Myers and Brunson should factor heavily into the TCU lineup. The left-handed batting Myers hit his way to the top of the Horned Frog batting order last year, while the right-handed hitting Brunson moved up and down the lineup after a hot start to the season preceded a cool finish. In addition to losing Maxwell, TCU also lost veteran outfielder Luke Boyers from the 2024 roster. Boyers was one of the most experienced players on the team, recording 213 appearances and 194 career starts as a Horned Frog.
TCU extends its lead to 6-2 after a big 2-run double by Freshman Chase Brunson. Brunson is going to be a really good one for the Horned Frogs. Great body, present bat speed and tools. Still just 18. pic.twitter.com/s59d1jxqnY

A newcomer who gradually earned more playing time in 2024 was former Texas outfielder Jack Arthur. After transferring from Texas to Weatherford College, Arthur made his way to Fort Worth and made 13 starts over 21 appearances last season, slashing .308/.400/.500 with 16 hits over 52 at-bats. Now a redshirt junior, Arthur is one of the veterans of a TCU outfield that contains three freshmen including two-way threat Trever Baumler as well as redshirt freshman Cole Eaton and true freshman Sawyer Strosnider. Eaton comes to TCU after one season at Tennessee, where he redshirted in 2024 before hitting the portal.
2024 MLB Draft Prospect and @TCU_Baseball commit @trever_baumler putting on an absolute show today!
Sitting 90-93 MPH on the bump
Pairs that with a ➕CH and aBat will play at the next level! Tons of raw power and handles high end velocity very well!

Rounding out this article, and our season preview series, will be former Ohio State catcher and outfielder Isaac Cadena, who played under former TCU assistant coach Bill Mosiello with the Buckeyes in 2024. Mosiello returned to the Horned Frogs over the offseason and brings with him Cadena, who started 20 games and slashed .253/.321/.505 with 23 RBIs at Ohio State last season.
