The 2023-24 season was a historic one for the TCU women’s rifle team, as the Horned Frogs finished as the national champions for the fourth time in program history. TCU’s dominance was on display throughout the 2023-24 season, with the Horned Frogs winning all but two of their rifle competitions. The Horned Frogs began their 2023-24 campaign with a hugely successful fall season that saw TCU defeat Navy and VMI in September as well as Georgia Southern, Air Force and Nebraska in October. The Horned Frogs added three more victories to their resume in November, beating Alaska Fairbanks twice before taking down UTEP in head-to-head action.

Shooting resume in January, when TCU defeated Ohio State three times while collecting victories over Air Force and The Citadel. The Horned Frogs were primed for a strong outing at the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships in February, and TCU delivered excellent results, winning both the smallbore and air rifle events to defend its conference titles. The Horned Frogs concluded February with head-to-head victories against UTEP and Air Force, with TCU’s victory over the Falcons qualifying the team for the NCAA Rifle Championships.

The NCAA Rifle Championships took place in Morgantown, West Virginia from March 8-9. TCU found itself in second place after the smallbore competition, but a stellar showing in the air rifle competition enabled the Horned Frogs to erase a six-point deficit and emerge as the national champions once again. TCU finished with a final score of 4,732 points to edge out second-place finisher West Virginia, who totaled 4,729 points.

Postseason accolades were plentiful for the Horned Frogs, who saw sophomore Katie Zaun honored as the CRCA Rifle Athlete of the Year and a unanimous CRCA First-Team All-American. Nina Schuett and sophomore Mikole Hogan were named CRCA Honorable Mention All-Americans in air rifle. Additionally, Stephanie Grundsoee earned a spot on Denmark’s Olympic Team for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
