Jahmal McMurray, one of the hottest commodities on the transfer market, has opted to transfer to SMU.
‘The feel was right, the atmosphere and environment was right and I know I’ll be successful there,” he said.
The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein.
A former St. John’s target, McMurray will be eligible in December. He is currently attending junior college.
The point guard also considered Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Baylor and Western Kentucky.
McMurray averaged 20.3 points per game, including a 10-of-20 showing from behind the arc, in three games this season for USF before announcing his decision to transfer.
He had been suspended for the first six games due to an undisclosed issue.
A preseason Second Team All-AAC member, McMurray averaged 15.2 points per game on 39 percent shooting last year.
