Earlier in the week, we ran a poll asking Mavericks fans (so, you I hope) where they felt about Dallas and their chances for making the playoffs as well as where they may end up in the hunt. The national poll, which you can sign up for and be a part of, also revolved around the playoffs.
Fans seem to think these four teams will be the top four seeds in the West.

The Lakers are inching closer and closer to holding onto a top four seed, even with their daunting schedule coming up. This is very annoying. The Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Thunder are pretty much locks at this point, barring an injury to a significant player.
These are the teams fans on a national level think will be the five through eight seeds (though not in this order). You’ll notice the Mavericks aren’t on this list. On FanDuel right now, Dallas is +108 if you think they are making the playoffs. They are -132 if you say no, they aren’t making the playoffs.

This would mean the Kings and Mavericks aren’t making the playoffs, according to national fans.
The poll for our site feels differently. Two out of three fans think Dallas makes the playoffs, which is to say, at least a top 10 team. The play-in is considered the playoffs by NBA standards these days.

Once you start to parce the results, though, you end with this graphic here.

A solid majority thinks Dallas finishes in the 7-10 range for the play-in. One in five voting fans think Dallas can move UP into the top six. One in four Dallas fans thinks the Mavericks are going to miss the playoffs entirely, which is bleak but an understandable feeling. One look at the Suns schedule should put that notion out of your mind. Dallas might be the 10 seed, but I don’t see how they aren’t going to at least get in.
