Dallas fans are bullish!
Earlier in the week we polled the fans of Mavs Moneyball about three different topics, all of which are related to the season ahead. Here’s the results of those questions and some bonus polling from the national survey that SB Nation runs.
The first question had to do with the Dallas record and where fans expect the Mavericks to finish.
The overwhelming majority think Dallas finishes with at least 50 wins, and given the talent level, it’s hard to see anything other than that happening with this squad. Instead, it’s a matter of how high the Mavericks can rise.
The second question was a yes/no one about Luka Doncic and the Most Valuable Player award.
Nearly three out of four voters think this is his year, finally. And maybe it will be!
The final question I asked was whether another Dallas Maverick will win an award or end up on an All NBA team or All Defense team.
This is pretty fun voting, with a solid majority saying yes, one Dallas Mavericks player will win something else, other than MVP. I could see Kyrie Irving making an All NBA Team but past that… it’s hard to do!
Lastly, we have some results from a national poll about the best team in the West.
Most voters think the Thunder will be the best team and that makes sense, they were the team with the best record last season. Dallas comes tied in second with the Nuggets. Dallas does stand a good chance, but it’s hard to see them actually doing it with how they blow winnable games. They’re a playoff team and a finals team, but Dallas has never taken the regular season that seriously when Luka Doncic has been at the helm. Perhaps this year will be different!
