The Dallas Mavericks might’ve severely underestimated the reaction they’d get from their fans after trading away Luka Doncic on Saturday night.
Less than 12 hours after sending the five-time All-Star to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a draft pick, people in Dallas are already protesting outside of the American Airlines Center.

The scene in Dallas quickly began to go viral online.
“Mavs fans are DIFFERENT,” a user replied. “They brought out a coffin in front of American Airlines Arena while playing Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again during the Luka Doncic protest.”
“‘RIP MAVS’: Dallas Mavericks fans have started leaving signs, flowers and beer outside American Airlines Center in response to the Luka Doncic trade,” WFAA reported.
“Mavs fans have gathered outside American Airlines Arena in protest of the Luka Doncic trade and are building a shrine beneath the Dirk Nowitzki statue,” Complex Sports shared.
“Mavs fans have to do something to show how unacceptable this betrayal was. Boycott games, heckle leadership, protest outside the AAC. They decided to burn everything to the ground so we’ll join them,” another person posted.
“LOL Mavericks fans protesting this morning in front of their stadium chanting, ‘sell the team,'” another user said.
“outside the Mavs’ arena.. safe to say the fans are NOT happy.”

Clearly folks aren’t in agreement with Nico Harrison‘s decision to ship Luka out of town.
And while it’s too soon to tell for sure, this is definitely a move that could end up setting Dallas’ franchise back a decade or more.
