Dallas plays an ugly game again, but gets the win
The Dallas Mavericks won their second game and second home game of the regular season, defeating the Utah Jazz, 110-102. Josh Bowe and I recorded a show after the game where we breakdown what happened and why and the things we’re taking away from the game.
Josh and I open the show talking about the weird performance of Luka Doncic before transitioning into praise for the very strong game from PJ Washington, who absolutely filled out the stat sheet. From there we have a too-long conversation and Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively and the over-discussed element of who should start or who should play more minutes. We also gush about how good Lively has looked in wins, including his awesome floater.

After the break we dabble in discussions about a number of other Dallas players. Klay Thompson continues to hit all the open looks. Kyrie Irving played a great game. Naji Marshall made an open lay up. Really, this was a good podcast for random takes with three games of backing. The team is winning ugly and it’s important they find a way through the much of these early games, which have a very preseason quality to them. After Josh and I’s show, we have a second post game show where one Mavs fan and I talk shop. You can find all the shows here on the page, either in YT or audio form.
