Dallas falls to 3-2 to start a home stand
The Dallas Mavericks played a mostly awful, dispirited game against the Houston Rockets and fell at home Thursday night, 108-102. Josh and I podcast about the game, which you can find below in video form, or at the bottom in podcast form.
This game was terrible for Dallas, there’s no way around that. Outside of the efforts of Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington, every other Maverick should experience some shame and reflect on how stinking bad they played. With Dallas falling behind by over 20 points repeatedly, you’d think they’d consider doing something different. You would be wrong.

No matter what combination head coach Jason Kidd tried, the Mavericks were a mess. Late in the fourth, they finally had some pride with a very small line up featuring PJ Washington at center, but it was really too little, too late. The Mavericks looked useless against anything the Rockets tried and they need to feel bad about themselves a bit before turning things around against the Orlando Magic on Sunday night.
Hopefully, they’ll do this neat thing in basketball where if a play works, you run it again. Dallas hasn’t been keen on that through five games. It’s time to show a little pride next game, fellas. No one cares that you went to the NBA Finals last year.
