If fans weren’t already shocked enough by the Dallas Mavericks trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers last night, Nico Harrison’s comments at Sunday’s press conference might be the cherry on top.
Speaking to the media after changing the trajectory of the Mavericks franchise, the Dallas GM not only admitted that Luka gave no indication he wouldn’t sign an extension or wanted out — but Harrison also revealed that the Lakers were the only team the Mavericks talked to about a potential deal.
Nico just said Luka gave no indication he wanted out or wouldn’t sign an extension moving forward. He also said the Lakers were they only team he talked to.
He’s saying this directly into a microphone.

Folks were sick on social media.
“Way to set a franchise a decade back,” a user said.
“i want nico to be blasted to mars,” another replied.
“A double-agent for the Lakers is what Nico is,” a fan asserted.
“Is he admitting to the coup?” another person asked. “This man has to be an insane narcissist what is going on.”
“And then he credited the Lakers for not leaking it….as if their priorities are aligned. This is malpractice.”
“Nico Harrison is a backstabbing treacherous snake,” another user claimed. “He said he wont speak badly about any player and then in total passive aggressive sleazy manner said some players fit and enhance the culture better than others.”
“Incompetent, no other way to put it.”
“Didn’t even have the balls to tell him to his face. even tim connelly went to KATs house to tell him. Unforgivable. Absolutely unforgivable,” another fan reacted.
It’s been a tough 24 hours for Mavs fans who are still coming to terms with the face of their team being shipped to Los Angeles with no building blocks coming back in return.
As incredible as Anthony Davis is, he’s 31-years-old with a pretty extensive injury history and it’s hard to believe that he’ll be in Dallas for the next decade-plus.
Whenever you trade someone of Luka’s caliber you’re never going to get back equal value. But to not at least inquire with anyone besides Rob Pelinka — with whom Harrison had a relationship with at Nike — seems to be what’s really bothering people.
