For those who like a season-long investment.
The Mavericks enter the 2024-25 season as the reigning Western Conference Champion. As such, the expectations are high, and these lofty goals are reflected in the sportsbooks’ lines. Despite the high success DraftKings is predicting, money will still be made on the Mavericks this season. Here are my favorite futures and props for the Dallas Mavericks this upcoming year:
Odds are up to date as of 9 PM central, October 21st
Dallas Mavericks over 50.5 wins (+105)
The Mavericks are much better this season. They improved at every margin, have the confidence of a deep playoff run, and are healthy to begin the year. They won 50 games last year, and a one-win improvement should be the floor for this team.
Luka Doncic under 33.1 points per game (-115)
I hate to bet against high-volume players, and Luka Doncic is the highest-volume player in the league. However, with all of the acquisitions Dallas made and an expected emphasis on getting the ball out of Doncic’s hands, this number is simply too high. He will likely be between 28 and 31 points per game this season, especially if the Mavericks are winning.
Dallas Mavericks to win the Southwest Division (+130)
The odds for this are a gift. The Mavericks are far and away the best team in their division and should run away with it. Take this and do not think twice.
Dereck Lively to win Sixth Man of the Year (+7500)
In all honesty, I think Daniel Gafford has a better shot to win this. However, one of the Mavericks centers is going to be a top bench player this year and it very well could be Dereck Lively if Jason Kidd decides to roll with Gafford in the starting lineup. Since Gafford was not listed on DraftKings, I think taking a flyer on Lively is worth a shot.
Jason Kidd to win Coach of the Year (+2500)
The Mavericks are going to be a top-three team in the West this season. They have a real shot to have the top record if they get good health luck and because of that, Kidd has fantastic value at 25-1.
Klay Thompson to score 20+ PPG and the Mavericks to win 50+ games (+3500)
This is the most fun bet on the board and it is located in the “team specials” section. Thompson averaged nearly 18 points last season and is a career 19.6-point-per-game scorer. He is about to have the most open shots he has ever had and the Mavericks will win 50 games barring a complete disaster. I love the value here, the odds could be laughable by the time April rolls around.
