During the Celtics’ closeout win in Game 5, ESPN announcer Mike Breen reported on an ugly interaction between Irving and a fan in the TD Garden stands. Breen elaborated on the incident during an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday morning, revealing he did not hear precisely what the fan said to Irving after he cascaded into the broadcast table chasing a loose ball, but could tell it crossed a line for the now-Dallas Mavericks point guard. “He came crashing in … and when he bounced off him, he was on his back, and there’s like a two-tier area behind our table. He was having trouble getting up, it’s so tight right there, he couldn’t get up,” Breen said. “Then all of a sudden, I didn’t hear the specific words, somebody yelled something disparaging to him.”

Almost all of Luka and Kyrie buckets in Game 4 were in the paint and getting off of Brown/Tatum as much as possible
Jrue was so bad Friday night on both ends of the floor, from the field goals allowed to the turnovers trying to get around Luka
I expect him/White to be better – 8:06 PM

Kyrie Irving has seemingly come to terms with his Celtic experience and the vitriol from fans it created: “I did it to myself.”
With his accountability — and with the Celtics one win from a championship — it may be time for the crowd to move on.

If a part of Kyrie’s struggles in Boston come from guilt over the previous circumstances, I’d say giving a team a 3-0 lead in The Finals is enough to call things even.
In fact, I’d imagine every Boston fan would have happily taken that deal when he left. – 10:08 AM

Regardless, there’s a lot to be excited about with the Mavs near future … for the first time in Luka’s career there is a very good core worthy of building around with Luka, Kyrie, Lively, PJ, and Gafford and hopefully Hardy and OMax on the way. – 9:58 AM

Mike Breen: “And as he’s getting up, he stopped and he looked back at the person, and he’s like, ‘Really?’ But he didn’t use those words. And he said, ‘What’s wrong with you?’ And it’s just so distasteful, here’s a guy who could be really hurt, trying to get up, and that’s what somebody takes the opportunity to say?” -via Awful Announcing / June 19, 2024
