Kidd and company specialize in Game 2 of any series
After seeing a fourth-quarter lead evaporate against the Denver Nuggets just two days ago, the Dallas Mavericks get an immediate shot at redemption. This time, there is a blinking light indicating they may receive some much-needed reinforcements in the starting lineup in the form of Kyrie Irving’s potential return.
While there is no assurance he will play – his player props are on the board which tells that bookmakers believe he stands a good chance of playing. For Dallas, that is great news for their fourth-quarter chances. For us? It gives us some juicy chances worth taking. Let’s scan the lines and act accordingly.
Game Details
Fixture: Denver Nuggets vs Dallas Mavericks | NBA 2024-2025
Date and Time: January 14th, 2024; 8:30 PM CST
Venue: American Airlines Center | Dallas TX
Outcome Odds
- Spread: Denver -4.5 (-108)
- O/U 232
- Mavs ML: +154
Odds up to date as of 3:30 AM CST from DraftKings
Denver will make guarding Irving a priority (if he plays) yet that is difficult for a team that lacks lockdown perimeter defenders. Irving will be in “we gotta get this one” mode and that leads us to believe both that Dallas has a great chance to split this baseball-style series – and that Irving’s scoring will be needed to lead the way.
Player Props
- Kyrie Irving over 23.5 points (-115)
- PJ Washington over 6.5 rebounds (-145)
- Russell Westbrook over 26 PRA (-130)
As mentioned above, look for Irving to announce his presence with an all-levels scoring performance. This is a bargain number – admittedly due to his injury creating uncertainty. We lean into it with confidence as Kidd said he looked really good in practice.
Washington’s 5 boards in the game on Sunday marked his lowest total in several games. That was an aberration.
With the Joker listed as probable to due recovering from an illness, we look elsewhere. Westbrook represents Denver’s hot hand relative to player prop expectations. If Jokic is unable to give his all, that helps this prop all the more.
Play of the Day
- Dallas Mavericks +4.5 -112
Dallas. At home. As underdogs. After just blowing a fourth-quarter lead. Getting one of their stars back on the floor. Falling in the standings. Yeah, all of that combined is a recipe for a Jason Kidd rebound off-the-mat sort of win. Yet, we are taking the points instead of the ML in case anything unseemly happens on a final possession.
