Dallas Mavericks chief executive officer Cynt Marshall announced that she will retire on December 31.
Marshall, who was hired in the role in 2018, was the first Black female CEO in NBA history.
“My three-year commitment has more than doubled in time. I cherish every day of our journey together. We’ve made the Mavs better. We’ve made communities better. We’ve made our industry better. Y’all made me better. I pray that I’m leaving it better than I found it,” wrote Marshall in a letter to employees.
Marshall decided that she would retire weeks ago and had recently reached a retirement agreement with Mavs Governor Patrick Dumont.
