Limping towards the All-Star break
The Dallas Mavericks (28-26) host the Golden State Warriors (27-26) on Wednesday night on the late game on ESPN, starting at 8:30 pm. The Mavericks are limping into All-Star break, suffering injuries to Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford in back-to-back games, decimating the already fragile big man rotation for the Dallas. The overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings on Monday added insult to injury. The new-look Warriors are playing with renewed vigor, despite their own depth problems. After trading for former Miami Heat guard/forward Jimmy Butler, they defeated the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks. Here are the main things to know before tip-off:
- WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors
- WHAT: Survive without more injuries. A win would be nice
- WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas Texas
- WHEN: 7:30 pm CST
- HOW: ESPN and Playback with Kirk, Matthew, and David
Josh Bowe will be the tallest Maverick playing tonight. Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively, Dwight Powell, and Caleb Martin are all out with various injuries. PJ Washington and Dante Exum are questionable as of this writing. Jonathan Kuminga is out for the Warriors with an ankle sprain. Kevon Looney is available to play after his face injury.
This ones about getting out of this game alive. If PJ Washington is able to give it a go, the tenor of this game changes a lot, but without him Dallas has no size. And Jimmy Butler is a foul grifter of the highest order and Steph Curry exists. This is going to be a TOUGH game, but one thing we can say about Dallas is how hard they play, so at minimum, it should be a fun game.
As you can tell below, you can join me and some other Mavs Moneyball guys in a room on Playback (embedded below) during the game (though I may not be able to start it until halftime). Also, consider joining Josh and I on Pod Maverick live after the game on YouTube, we should start after the game. Thanks so much for spending time with us here at Mavs Moneyball. Let’s go Mavs!
