Mavericks vs Grizzlies Preview, Injury Report, and Game Thread: Beatings will continue until morale improves

Well! Uhhhh basketball will be played!

The Dallas Mavericks (20-15) are on the road Monday facing the Memphis Grizzlies (23-13). Dallas is not in a good spot right now, missing multiple key guys due to injury. Dallas has lost four straight games as well! The Grizzlies are reeling a bit, losing two straight, and are looking for a get-right game against the Mavericks. Here’s the main things to know!

Dallas is hurting right now and the injury report proves it. Luka Doncic is out with his calf injury and will be for at least another three weeks. Dante Exum will return from wrist surgery eventually, but not yet! Now, we have to add Kyrie Irving to the nebulous list. The report says it’s a lumbar sprain and Shams/MacMahon have reporting out that Dallas is going to let him rest for at least a week while rehabbing, then we’ll see. Ask anyone with back injuries how unpredictable they are. This is concerning, and we talk about it here.

It’s not like the Grizzlies are that healthy either. Desmond Bane is doubtful and Luke Kennard is questionable. Ja Morant, Santi Aldama, Marcus Smart, GG Jackson, and Vince Williams are all out for one reason or another. This may not be the finest of basketball games, is what we’re saying.

We have a longer preview here but it’s not as up-to-date given all the recent news about Kyrie. This would be a nice win to get but it’s hard to assume anything!
