The Dallas Mavericks are playing basketball again!
The Dallas Mavericks host the Memphis Grizzlies in the opening game of their short preseason slate. Not a ton of regular rotation players will be getting minutes, but it will be nice to see the Mavericks on our television or computers all the same. Here’s the main stuff you need to know before tip off
- WHO: Dallas Mavericks vs Memphis Grizzlies
- WHAT: The first game of the preseason for Dallas
- WHERE: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
- WHEN: 7:00 p.m. CST
- HOW: Mavs.com or NBA League Pass
The injury report is LONG. Luka Doncic will miss the game (and likely most of the preseason) with a calf contusion. Kyrie Irving is resting (from what, we will never know). Klay Thompson is in the same boat as Kyrie. P.J. Washington Jr. is out with some hip tightness. Maxi Kleber has been nursing an ankle sprain for a while. Dante Exum is also out with his wrist injury which required surgery. Brandon Williams is missing the game with an ankle sprain of his own.
There’s no official injury report for Memphis, but Jaren Jackson Jr. is out with a hamstring issue. Looks like other Memphis players will get at least spot minutes, but at the moment no one else is out that I can find.
It will be fun to overreact to today’s game but the reality is there’s not too much we should take away from it. Positive things are good, negative things can be handwaved. That’s what I’ll do. Or try to do.
Thanks for hanging out at Mavs Moneyball, we’ll be back tonight with postgame coverage, including but not limited to a podcast with Josh and I on Pod Maverick right after the game. Join us live on YouTube and come talk to us!
