The Dallas Mavericks suffered their third blowout and fourth loss in the NBA Finals last night as the Boston Celtics took the title. After the game, Mavs star Kyrie Irving had a message for his fans and followers.
Taking to X last night, Kyrie called on his 4.7 million followers to “stay together” and keep their heads held high.
“Tribe, stay together no matter what. Through the ups and downs, wins and losses, success and failure. Keep your head up high. This mission is bigger than us. I love you all! Hélà,” Kyrie wrote.
With a message like that, you’d think that the Mavs were playing a best of nine. Fans weren’t exactly feeling Kyrie’s message of positivity after the way he struggled throughout the series.
“Kyrie you my guy but wtf were those performances in Boston???” one user asked.
“Bro tweeting immediately after choking and being eliminated lmao,” wrote another.
“You let the team down big time in the finals, what happened?” a third wrote.
Kyrie only went over 20 points twice in the NBA Finals, averaging 41.4-percent shooting throughout the series – his lowest of the entire NBA playoffs. Unsurprisingly, the Mavericks were blown out in all of the games where Kyrie failed to score 20.
Did Kyrie miss his last chance to win an NBA Finals without being part of a superteam?
