Kyrie Irving has reached out to LeBron James to gauge whether he might be interested in joining him on the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell Shams Charania of The Athletic.
Irving is a free agent this offseason and the Los Angeles Lakers are limited in what they can offer him while also retaining Rui Hachimura, Jarred Vanderbilt and others.
Sources tell Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report that the Mavericks were preparing a trade offer for James when the Lakers were struggling during the season. James was ineligible to be traded during the 22-23 season due to his new extension.
James is under contract with the Lakers through the 24-25 season though he can become a free agent in 2024.
