It’s only been one game and Klay Thompson is already setting a Dallas Mavericks franchise record.
Thompson helped the Mavericks beat the San Antonio Spurs by 11, 120-109, and finished with 22 points and seven rebounds. He set a Mavericks franchise record with six three-pointers in his debut.

The Mavericks acquired Thompson in a six-team sign-and-trade deal back in July before they signed him to a three-year $50 million deal. He wanted to go to the Mavericks because he thought they were close to winning a championship.
He’s right since the Mavericks got to the NBA Finals this past season before losing in five games to the Boston Celtics.
Thompson was with the Warriors for 13 seasons and helped them win four NBA titles. He’s one of the best three-point shooters in the history of the game and had countless clutch moments for the Warriors.
He finished the 2023-24 season averaging 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He also shot 43% from the floor and 38.7% from three-point range.
Thompson will try and keep the good times rolling when the Mavericks look to make it two in a row to start their 2024-25 campaign against the Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
Tip-off will be at 10 p.m. ET.
