A podcast that goes all sorts of places
Friday, I got the chance to chat with my long-time internet friend Jason Concepcion. You likely know him from his Emmy award-winning show on the Ringer called NBA Desktop. He currently cohosts a basketball show called Six Trophies with Shea Serrano, which you should absolutely check out on YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.
Jason’s resume includes time with Grantland, ALL CAPS NBA and Takeline with Crooked Media, X-Ray Vision, and host of official podcasts for Game of Thrones, Foundation, and Three Body problem. Jason also wrote a comic for Marvel and also wrote on this great television show called Primo.
As this is a basketball podcast, we start off with him explaining his relatively new show, the previously mentioned Six Trophies. Then we transition into talk about the NBA at large, ranging from the Celtics, Knicks, Timberwolves, and of course, the Dallas Mavericks. I end the first half of the show with a pitch for him to come with me to Fremont Street the next time we’re in Las Vegas for NBA Summer League.
We record a postgame show every Dallas game Live on YouTube! Click and Subscribe!
The second half of the show trends more pop culture, with me asking him questions about his writing, what he’s most enjoyed making, video games, Batman, and he gives me a LOT of book recommendations. This was a really special podcast to me. I’ve wanted to have Jason on forever as he’s been a part of podcasts and writing that are very special to me, even years later. Find it below!
