Mark Cuban said Jason Kidd will “absolutely” remain head coach of the Dallas Mavericks next season.
The Mavericks were in the Western Conference Finals last season and have had a disappointing follow-up season after losing Jalen Brunson. Two of the Mavericks’ big offseason additions, Christian Wood and JaVale McGee, didn’t have the type of impact for Kidd that the front office anticipated.
The presence of Kidd as head coach is also believed to be of importance to Kyrie Irving, who will be a free agent this offseason.
When the Mavericks hired Kidd during the 2021 offseason, he was signed to a four-year contract, which puts him at the halfway point of that deal.
