Former NBA swingman Jalen Rose still can’t believe the Dallas Mavericks got rid of Luka Doncic.
Taking to social media following Saturday’s win over the Houston Rockets, Rose unleashed on the Mavs. Targeting ownership and saying, “If you don’t want to pay LUKA, SELL the team!”
“I’ll be very direct about what I think,” Jalen began. “Y’all could talk about him being out of shape… y’all could talk about his lifestyle, his bad habits… or whatever. Here’s what I do know: he’s 25-years-old, he’s been All-NBA five times and he just led y’all to the Finals!”

“He’s a modern day Larry Bird!” Rose exclaimed. “There are a lot of people in the NBA that have bad habits — especially young players. You have to give them a chance grow and mature. So congratulations, Lakers. Congratulations Rob Pelinka. I guess both of them gonna get statues in LA because I believe they gonna get chips too!”
As well as Anthony Davis played in his Dallas debut, the 32-year-old big man was forced to leave the game with an injury — an all-too-familiar sight for basketball fans.
Doncic is off to one of the best starts of any player in NBA history and if he never improves from here he’s a first-ballot Hall of Fame player.
Mavericks brass has issued conflicting statements on why they decided to deal their Slovenian-born superstar. But it’s hard to imagine this working out well for them beyond the next 1-2 seasons.
Conditioning didn’t seem to be a problem when Luka was putting on some of his best ball in the playoffs over the last few years.
And you have to wonder why the Mavs chose to cost him over $100 million when they probably would’ve had more suitors this offseason by signing him to the supermax and trading him to a team that knew he would be there for the long haul.
But here we are.
