He admitted that he is not the biggest fan of Luka Doncic for his ball-dominant style of play. Karl is also excited to see what the future holds for Victor Wembanyama. “I’m not a big fan of Luka — I just don’t like him palming the ball all the time and it’s just not my style. I want him to play more together. But I think that we’re all blessed right now with that tall skinny guy down there in San Antonio… What the hell is HE gonna be? I think that’s going to be really interesting,” Karl said.’

He’s had many great moments in six years with the Mavs, but given his physical state and what was at stake, Game 5 might have been Luka Doncic’s finest hour. Not seeing much conditioning talk this AM – 10:25 AM

According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Clippers were 3-of-12 from the floor when Doncic was the primary defender in Game 5, including 0-of-7 from 3-point range. “I always speak on his resilience,” said Mavs co-star Kyrie Irving, who had 14 points and 6 assists. “He’s not feeling a hundred percent, but he’s still going to go out there and play. For me as a teammate, I enjoy that. I enjoy being around somebody like that that’s going to push themselves but also be smart and still make an impact on the game — and still empty his clips, as we like to say. Even though he is not feeling well or he’s not able to be a hundred percent, he’s still able to lead our team in his own way.” It was the fifth 30-point, 10-assist performance of Doncic’s postseason career. Other players in franchise history have combined to accomplish that feat only twice, with Steve Nash and Mark Aguirre each having one such playoff performance. -via ESPN / May 2, 2024
Justin Kubatko: Luka Doncic last night: 35 PTS 10 AST 7 REB It’s his 20th 30-point playoff game, a mark he reached in 33 games. The only players in NBA history to do so in fewer games are Michael Jordan (28), Wilt Chamberlain (29), and Elgin Baylor (31).
