Shahnavaz Makhani: Mavs win, 118-113! Incredible defensive effort by the Mavs and Jason Kidd. Tyler Herro went off for 40 but the role players for the Heat couldn’t do anything. Dallas had seven of their nine players available in double figures, led by an amazing effort from Dante Exum (27-3-4). The Mavs shot better from the field and from three with half their roster out. Bring on the All-Star break.

“The best thing about AD – look at tonight, how they (the Cavs) play two bigs,” said Dante Exum. “It’s a perfect example of how we can be – a defensive-minded team. And AD brings a lot of offense, a lot of rim protection, rebounding, everything. “It’s that time of year right now,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said ahead of Wednesday night’s matchup against the Thunder at Paycom Center. “We’re doing all the due diligence that we possibly can. But we can’t control everything. What we can control is our mentality and connection going into this game.” Herro and Jaquez felt bad enough that they didn’t travel with the team to Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
