Best NBA Bets For April 10, 2024
Hornets @ Hawks
Hawks -10.5 (-110)
The Charlotte Hornets travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks in the final game of their season series. The previous match ended in a 41-point blowout win for the Hawks.
The Hornets are on track to finish the season with a bottom-three record. This will be the second straight year that the Hornets will finish the season with 27 wins or less. They could add another top lottery prospect to their impressive core of young talent.
The Hawks have dealt with so many injuries this season, and it’s a credit to their character as a team that they have stayed competitive in so many games this year.
The Hawks are currently 10th in the East. They are a game off the ninth seed and home advantage in their first single-elimination play-in game.
The Hornets have the same quartet of players sidelined and no new injury concerns. The Hawks have Saddiq Bey and Onyeka Okongwu ruled out for this game. Trae Young could make a return from his lengthy injury absence.
Both teams will be on the second night of a back-to-back.
The Hawks have also been a reliable offense despite all the injuries they have dealt with. They have scored at least 110 points in 10 of their previous 11 games. The Hawks also rank 11th in offensive rating.
While NBA teams tend to be worse defensively on the second night of back-to-backs, the Hawks have played both games at home. They have demonstrated the ability to score freely on such nights. In a similar scenario two weeks ago, they scored 123 points against the Celtics.
In contrast, the Hornets have routinely struggled to score points away from home. Over their previous six road games, they have scored over 100 points just once. This bodes well for this spread bet.
In this bet, we’re backing the Hawks on the spread because we have a prolific offense at home going against an poor road offense.
Raptors @ Nets
Raptors +10.0 (-110)
The Brooklyn Nets welcome the Toronto Raptors to the Barclays Center. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between both sides. The Nets won the most recent encounter in Toronto by eight points. They lead the series 2-1 on the season.
The Nets and Raptors are 11th and 12th in the East respectively. This game is pointless in the grand scheme of things as both are clearly out of the playoff picture but are not low enough seeds to have a top-five pick in this summer’s draft.
The Nets’ Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton will be game-time decisions. For the Raptors, Immanuel Quickley, Chris Boucher, and Gradey Dick are game-time decisions.
As mentioned earlier, both teams will miss the playoffs. Both teams have been competitive in games but have often not had enough talent to win games.
The Nets have been solid at home over the past few weeks. They have won six of their previous 10 home games. This game presents something they have not experienced at all this season. They will be without at least five rotation players.
The Raptors have been poor on the road over the previous couple of games. In the previous 10 road games, they have won just three. That run needs nuance. They have been handicapped by injuries during that run.
In this game, they could welcome some key players back. When Quickley and Dick are in the lineup, they have shown they can be competitive as evidenced by their most recent game on the road against the Bucks, where they not only covered the spread but won outright.
In this NBA bet, we are backing the Raptors to cover the spread on the road.
Mavericks @ Heat
Mavericks -4.5 (-110)
The immovable Miami Heat welcome the unstoppable Mavericks to the Kaseya Center for the second game of the season series. The previous game ended in a six-point win for the Mavericks at the American Airlines Center.
The Mavericks know that a win today confirms that they will avoid the play-in tournament.
The Heat are dead center of the race for seeding for the play-in tournament. They are just half a game back of the 76ers who are seventh.
The Heat have Terry Rozier and Tyler Herro as game-time decisions. The Mavericks currently have Dereck Lively II listed as out. Josh Green could make his return from a lengthy injury absence.
The Mavericks have been scoring points on the road with ease over the past two months. During those runs of road games, they have scored at least 110 points in 15 of their previous 17.
Luka Dončić and Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks to a hot March form where they lost only five games. They enter this game on a four-game win streak.
The ultra-competitive Miami Heat are always capable of winning at home as evidenced by their three wins in their previous five.
That recent run of wins at home requires some nuance. They have recorded wins against the injury-hit Knicks and Cavaliers, Trailblazers, Spurs, Jazz, and Pistons. Not exactly a Murderer’s row.
Also, they come into this game off a double-overtime win over the Hawks last night. Expect to see a very lethargic and fatigued Heat team.
In this bet, back the Mavs to beat the tired Heat on the road.
These are my best NBA bets for April 10, 2024. Let’s repeat some recent successes.
